Sunday Focus
12th April 2026
Welcome to this weeks Sunday Focus, we pray you will be blessed.
Hymn -Be Thou My Vision
Song - You are my Anchor
Risen Christ,
You come and stand among us,
speaking peace into our fear
and hope into our uncertainty.
As we gather, open our hearts to Your presence,
open our lives to Your word,
and lead us into the fullness of life
You offer in Your name.
Amen.
Song - Be Still
Reading
John 20:19-31
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
19 When it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and the doors of the house where the disciples had met were locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ 20After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.’ 22When he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.’
Jesus and Thomas
24 But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord.’ But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.’
26 A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ 27Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.’ 28Thomas answered him, ‘My Lord and my God!’ 29Jesus said to him, ‘Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.’
The Purpose of This Book
30 Now Jesus did many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. 31But these are written so that you may come to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life in his name.
Song - How Great The Chasm
God of resurrection,
we give thanks that death could not hold Your Son
and that through Jesus
we are given new birth into a living hope.
We thank You for joy beyond words,
for faith refined through trial,
and for the inheritance kept for us in Your love.
Receive our praise,
for You are faithful and Your promises endure.
Faithful God,
we confess that we often hide behind locked doors—
doors of fear, doubt, or self-protection.
We place conditions on belief
and resist the paths You set before us.
Forgive us, renew us,
and breathe Your Spirit upon us again,
that we may trust Your grace
and walk in the path of life.
Amen.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
Song - Cornerstone
Go in peace,
held in the love of God,
renewed by the risen Christ,
and led by the breath of the Holy Spirit.
Walk in the path of life,
live in resurrection hope,
and may your joy be made full.
Amen.
