Something a bit different this week, various songs and hymns from Psalm 23

Hymn - The Lord's My Shepherd

Song -  Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah

God of welcome,
You call us from many places and gather us at Your table.
You meet us in joy and in weariness,
in hope and in worry,
in plenty and in need.
Lead us by Your Spirit today,
so that in prayer, song, Scripture and silence
we may know Your presence,
receive Your peace,
and be made ready to serve Your world;
through Jesus Christ. Amen.

Bible Reading

Psalm 23 - The Voice version - a slightly different take on a very familiar passage.

1 The Eternal is my shepherd, He cares for me always.
2 He provides me rest in rich, green fields
    beside streams of refreshing water.
    He soothes my fears;
3 He makes me whole again,
    steering me off worn, hard paths
    to roads where truth and righteousness echo His name.

4 Even in the unending shadows of death’s darkness,
    I am not overcome by fear.
Because You are with me in those dark moments,
    near with Your protection and guidance,
    I am comforted.

5 You spread out a table before me,
    provisions in the midst of attack from my enemies;
You care for all my needs, anointing my head with soothing, fragrant oil,
    filling my cup again and again with Your grace.
6 Certainly Your faithful protection and loving provision will pursue me
    where I go, always, everywhere.
I will always be with the Eternal,
    in Your house forever.

Song - The Lord's My Shepherd - Townend

Song - We will Feast in the House of Zion

Generous God,
We thank You for daily bread,
for shelter and friendship,
for those who care for others quietly,
and for every sign that Your love is still at work in the world.
We thank You for the promise of Your kingdom,
for the table You spread,
for the peace You give,
and for the hope that does not fail.
Receive our gratitude,
and make us grateful people in the way we live;
through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.

Amen

 Hymn - The Lord is my Shepherd (Goodall)

God of hope,

Send us out in peace,
with hearts made steady by Your grace.
Lead us in the paths of justice and mercy.
Make us signs of Your welcome,
faithful in small things,
patient in struggle,
and joyful in service;
through Jesus Christ,
who calls us to the feast of Your kingdom. Amen.
